Selecting Turbo Poker Room

I've been playing online poker since 1990's, played on all top poker rooms. Lots of online poker sites but very few I'd consider playing on regularly.

I have my own set of criteria for poker rooms. Ensure this area of your online poker career is taken seriously.

Selecting a safe and honest environment to deposit funds is more important than poker strategy. It's pointless winning if you struggle to collect your winnings.

Selecting Poker Room - Onpage Navigation

Choosing Powerful Brand within Strong Poker Network

Small poker rooms with small budgets are more likely to fold than large poker sites with mega budgets on a solid network. Some considered better than others for various reasons.

Within each poker network you'll encounter sites that will probably be around in 10 years, but also gimmicky rooms that'll be lucky to make it through the year.

My selections are based on my views. You might notice a slight UK bias, nothing sinister, I play poker from UK, my room selection will reflect this.

Microgaming Sites for Poker Turbo's

Stanjames arrived on the scene before microgaming. It was established in 1973, as a british bookmakers, developing a huge reputation along the way.

32red touts itself as " best casino of the decade". They certainly have a huge selection of casino games but I've a natural leaning towards poker and betting at stanjames.com.

Texas Holdem is most popular with players but omaha, omaha hilo, 5 card draw turbo's are also available at turbo speed, although unless it's shorthanded, some tables only fill at weekends.

Ipoker Network Sites for Poker Turbo's

iPoker Network run various turbo games including heads-up, SNG's, and multi-table tournaments. Bet365, WilliamHillPoker, and Betfred are top iPoker Network sites, share traffic, ensuring ample players to start regular games.

Ongame Poker Network for Turbo's

Ongame's Poker network has around 2000 active players through any given day. I'm not a fan of the network.

They struggled after withdrawing US players in 2006, have never recovered. The list of sites sharing Ongame poker network is unappealing.

Turbo's at Ongame have 3 minute blinds. Due to differences in software, players tend to play fewer hands per round than normal.

Turbo's at Ongame may feel slightly faster than turbo's on other networks, some consider them like hyper turbo's, the truth is somewhere in middle. After playing a few sessions you'll get the feel for the game pace.

Poker sites come and go on Ongame Network. BetfairPoker.com is the main gambling brand, it's one of the more stable options at Ongame.

Merge Gaming Network for Turbo's

Poker rooms on Merge Gaming Network are reportedly open to US players. This has a negative impact on Merge ratings. The UIGEA caused disruption to USA poker in 2006, it hasn't been the same since.

Right or wrong, whatever the reason, DOJ intend to stop Poker Networks offering services to US residents, using various restrictive measures to make their case.

Many twists & turns, politics getting more nonsensical by the day, I can only suggest that American's forget online poker for now and take up playing the Banjo.

Merge gaming is an international poker network, open to players in numerous countries.

Carbon Poker is probably the most established site on merge network. Most of the action is on low staked tables. They've good banking options, traffic peaks around 2000 players online.

A few other sites on the network look unconvincing, some probably best avoided.

US Merge Gaming Poker Alternative

For American poker fans - A Banjo can keep you and your family entertained for weeks on end.

You're probably a losing player, enjoy an occasional flurry of wins and spirit lifting cash out's, chances are, you'll be a better Banjo player than poker player, so it's a cost effective solution for disenfranchised US poker fans.

In Britain, we viewed American's as poker ATM machines, so it was sad to see them leave online poker in such numbers. I've a full wardrobe of hoodies, prada trainers, 6 mobile phones, & 5 wide screen TV's, all at the expense of the US economy.

Look at it factually, a Banjo is your best option. No need to protect your Banjo bankroll unless you're intent on street busking.

Times are tough for American's but at least there's no spiky stick statesmen manning gates of online poker (Yet).
