Turbo Poker Tournament Thoughts
Poker turbo's are great to play, they allow for more table action in a shorter period of time. The same fundamental strategy applies to both regular and turbo tournaments. Sure, variance will be a little higher but don't let that put you off as skill always pays off in the end.
If you're a newcomer, you're probably better sticking with standard tournaments to develop a core understanding before moving on to turbo's, especially super turbo and hyper turbo poker games. Winning players should consider "Time v Profit."
In my case it would be:
- 12 tables at $7 average = $96 per hour playing regular tournaments.
- 24 tables at $5 average = $120 per hour playing turbo's
You cannot play overly tight during a turbo, or before you know it, you'll be in trouble. The same also applies to late stages in regular games. If you're a winning player, it's only natural that you want to play more games, I do this by multi-tabling turbo tournaments.
